My first half-marathon!
I did it!

It ended up being a perfect day for running, mid 60’s and completely sunny. The race was in Central Park, which was the perfect setting. I ran with two of my friends, so it was nice having the support. I finished at 2 hrs 18 mins, which isn’t too bad for running 13 miles! I definitely want to run another one to improve my time, but am glad I at least ran this entire one without passing out or having to walk.

One of my favorite Wu songs of all time, check out this spoof “Cookies Rule Everything Around Me”. Hilarious!
I grew up on the sweet side, the chubby cheek side Hungry youth, rockin a sweet tooth It was a dream for a teen who was a sugar fiend No question I would quake for a chocolate milk shake My life never changed, I’m doing much the same Figured out I why I chose this route Making cupcakes, I call’s em C’s Cookies Rule Everything Around Me
Candy insides, ain’t no lie.
At ice cream shops, with moms and pops
Banana splits with cherries on tops.
Only times I’m full’s when I’m asleep- truth!
I’m all over the snacks like icin’ on a sweet bun
First I eat this one, then I eat that one.
Started snorting Pixie Stix at sixteen
Never talking to no fellows, busy eating marshmallows
Getting sick off licorice sticks.
What I want, I will take
No question I’m no rookie when it comes to eating cookies
Steering clear of veggies like yo dad steers clear of bookies
Sneaking bits of frosting like I’m insane.
Life’s too short not to dine out
Rollin in buttercream, flossing like G’s
Yo- bakers respect me, my dentist detests me
Ch-chick-POW! I gotta go eat now.

Fresh Fro-yo On Tap
Imagine being able to mix and match 16 flavors of frozen yogurt…. well, you can do just that at the appropriately named “16 Handles” in the East Village. The sister location to the LA store which attracts celebrity clientele such as pre-jail La Lohan, the NYC shop is located on 11th and 2nd. After you make your custom fro-yo flavor, head straight to the toppings bar where you can choose from healthy fruit to a candy smorgasboard. Just be careful not to overload! I went on Saturday and made a great combo- Peanut Butter Fro-yo with Bananas, Peanut Butter Cups, Chocolate Pretzels and Granola…

You Are What You “Eataly”
The newest local-food inspired marketplace to hit NYC is opening today! Eataly, an “Italian Food Hall”, is located on W. 23rd and Fifth and was created by famous chefs Mario Batali and Joseph Bastianich. The 36,500 sq-ft space will have over 20 retail spots and include options such as antipasti, salumi, pizza, fresh pasta, crudo and other seafood, roast meats sold by the pound, panini, dessert items, gelati and coffee. There will even be “Vegetable Butchers” to prepare fresh veggies such as Artichokes for your dinner party later that evening.
In addition to all these vendors, there will also be dining options as well. Manzo, a full-scale white-tablecloth Italian steakhouse, will have Michael Toscano formerly of Babbo as the chef. There will also be a wine bar, which is where I will probably be heading.

This will DEFINITELY be a must-see movie! Natalie Portman starring in “The Black Swan”, an indie psychological thriller based on the famed ballet Swan Lake.
Summer Streets
Imagine a flock of bikes and runners on Park Ave. instead of dirty, honking cabs:

This scene actually happened on Saturday, and will happen next Saturday as well. The NYC “Summer Streets” is a government-sponsored festival where Park Ave. is shut down from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, giving people a chance to enjoy the city without the usual smog and congestion. When I walked by Saturday, Crunch was giving free outdoor fitness classes, people were playing tennis in the streets, and free healthy food was being given out in a picnic area. Check out the map below, and the website to find out all the deets!

1,000 Ballerina’s Descend On Central Park… TODAY!
Did you know that there is a Guinness World Record for the most ballerinas standing on pointe at the same time? Well there is. And today at 6:30pm, NYC-based dancers will aim to break the record, which is currently 220 dancers.
One thousand professional dancers will all stand en pointe for one minute, at the same time. Joined by famed character (and my childhood idol) Angelina Ballerina, ballet dancers 13+ are invited to be part of this record-breaking event called “Break the Ballet Record”. This will support the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club peforming arts program, a partner of the newly launched Angelina Ballerina Stars of Tomorrow campaign that promotes the joys and benefits of dance for children around the world.
I haven’t put on my pointe shoes for 2 years, but maybe I should give them a twirl tonight!

Spiked Tea
Last week, I went to a party at the NYC office of Hollywood’s trendy Tea Room (often frequented by La Lohan pre-jail). At the party, we got to taste samples of all the different types of alcoholic tea drinks served at Tea Room, my fav was the “Cool as a Cucumber” because, I am cool, and cucumber is super refreshing in the summer:
Ingredients: Basil, Mint, Fresh lemon, White tea, Cucumber, Sloe Gin, and soda Health Benefits: Basil is a rich source of Vitamin K, iron, calcium, and other nutrients. Basil is also known to impart sedative, diuretic and antiseptic properties. Peppermint boosts mental powers and general body energy while decreases stress. The tea base is full of antioxidants, which protect against all free radicals. The white tea is chock-full of flavonoids, particularly powerful anti-oxidants, protecting the immune system and promoting healthy skin Directions:
Viva la Pizza
After yoga yesterday, my friend took me to get food at a place that apparently is Bethenny Frankel’s favorite. Obsessed with her antics on “Bethenny Getting Married”, i couldn’t turn down the offer. Cafe Viva Natural Pizza is conveniently located in the East Village at 11th and 2nd.
The verdict? I’m officially hooked. Even the cheesiest slices were made with (delicious) whole wheat crust, and they had plenty of dairy-free options for vegans. Check out the famed Santa Rosa ( sun dried tomato, mushrooms, roasted garlic, olives, tofu marinated in miso & soy cheese):
