What is kombucha?!
Fermented food is the newest craze here in NYC, but consuming aged food may not appeal to the masses. Enter: Kombucha. My friends and I discovered ‘bocha when we were shambling at work all day long, and it somehow calmed us down. What is Kombucha you may ask? Basically, it is sweet tea that has been sitting out for weeks so good bacteria and yeast grows. If “good bacteria” is a foreign concept to you, it includes vitamins, minerals and amino acids. It is a detoxifier, supports the immune system, and contains lactic acid which helps with digestion. Get enough of the good bacteria and you will block the bad bacteria!

You probably can find ‘Bocha at your local gormet bodega or korean supermarket. Whole Foods usually has a great variety (some even have Kombucha brewing stations), but because of the high alcohol content they have temporarily been removed. Hmmm, wonder if that’s why it is so addictive…
