Summer Streets
Imagine a flock of bikes and runners on Park Ave. instead of dirty, honking cabs:
This scene actually happened on Saturday, and will happen next Saturday as well. The NYC “Summer Streets” is a government-sponsored festival where Park Ave. is shut down from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, giving people a chance to enjoy the city without the usual smog and congestion. When I walked by Saturday, Crunch was giving free outdoor fitness classes, people were playing tennis in the streets, and free healthy food was being given out in a picnic area.
